Despite being a 1986 BMW E30 body, this is no longer a BMW - this is a 1987 Hartge H26. It was also more than just a body kit but nothing too insane past that. These cars were more of an evolution in performance of the standard E30. For example, the 11-spoke aluminum wheels are made specifically for Hartge by BBS and measure out to 16x7.5.

Hartge took the 170 hp 2.3 liter engine and did similar modifications methods used by Alpina. A much better camshaft and cylinder head. forged pistons to raise compression to 10:1. The manifold uses usually 40mm diameter pipes for the exhaust. The H23 also has a special cast aluminum cam cover.

Only 35 of these were built, of which five were brought in and federalized by Performance Motorsports in Florida - this is the only burgundy one of those. The side skirts and rims are not standard (though Hartge pieces). The H23 has 170PS rather than the 143 of the standard BMW 323i.
